When a famous Interior Decorator from Chicago contacted us to make a metal reproduction (metal replication) of a ca.1930 fireplace screen we got all excited, however the excitation did not last long because the image of the piece was extracted from the internet at very low resolution and with poor detail.
Per our observation the piece had three type of metals: iron, brass and stainless steel and also a blue textured glass.
Brass leaves needed to be formed using the mechanical advantage of hammering by the process called chasing.
So we went to work and after two weeks the piece was on its way to the final destination.
Every one loved it and we were sorry to let it go. Oh well, perhaps next time we will make an extra one for us too.
